CHO SERVES 10 BARANGAYS
The City Health Office brought the Laging Dadamay Medical Missions to ten
coastal barangays from March to May 2009, bringing the number of barangays
served to 35.
Barangays served were Sawanga, San Vicente, Cabid-an, Gatbo, San Ramon,
Bitan-o, Balogo (Bacon), Bon-ot, Osiao and Sto. Niño. In all, the medical
missions directly benefited some 4,000 constituents.
Services brought by the CHO personnel direct to the barangays include
medical consultation, dental examination and tooth extraction and dispensing
of medicines. At least 35 health workers, complemented by barangay health
workers, make up the Laging Dadamay workforce.
Started in November 2007, the medical outreach aims to promote the health
and well-being of the Sorsoganons. Specifically, the project hopes to (1)
provide community-based medical/dental consultations/treatment/attention in
efforts to promote public health; (2) disseminate information on various
health aspects, including environmental sanitation and cleanliness,
STI-HIV/AIDS and nutrition to stem the outbreak of diseases; and (3)
acquaint residents with the health programs of the Department of Health and
the City Government/City Health Office as well as the intricacies and
processes of the public health system
