Guinlajon Softball team emerged champion in the recently concluded 1^st LD CUP SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT held in Aemilianum College Grounds. Guinlajon the early favorite displayed teamwork and prowess right after the ceremonial pitch done by Sorsogon City Mayor Leovic R. Dioneda. The team pounded all its rivals in bracket A and never looked back up to the championship game watched by hundreds of Sorsogueños who waited for decade before a prestigious softball tournament has seen here. Guinlajon anchored by its prized pitchers siblings Rene and Ronando Diesta and Antonio Jerao with skillful catcher Elat Buelvo. In his short statement Guinlajon Brgy. Chairman and team manager Ruben Lagco said, his team is really hungry for the title and ready to face all odds. Lagco said he is grateful to mayor LD for sponsoring a softball tournament like this the first ever in Sorsogon for more than 20 years.

Runners-up were Bitan-o Dalipay, Pangpang and Balogo. Other teams that participated in the tournament were San Juan, Salog, Cambulaga, Piot, Pamurayan, Macabog and Tugos.

Moreover, City Mayor LD assures the people of Sorsogon his all out support to any endeavor promoting softball tournaments. He said he will include this discipline to the Sorsogon Festival in December.
